Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin is a Canadian and actress from New Zealand. Born in Winnipeg however, she was raised in Wellington, she was the first actress to appear on screen in The Piano. In this romance film, at the age of the age of 11, Paquin won her second Oscar for Best Actress. Anna Paquin's full name was Anna Helene Paquin. Born on the 24th of July, 1982 on the 24th of July 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian born New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won an Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the talkative and inquisitive character Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) brought her the prize. In response to an open audition call to play the character, she got it as Flora McGrath, the daughter of an mute Scottish pianist who relocates into New Zealand in mid-19th-century to be married. It was her first role at the age of nine, and she had no acting experience. She moved to the United States as a teen. Paquin had the role of lead in Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part as Jane Eyre in the film when she was only a child. Paquin was Frankie Addams from a television film version of Carson McCullers' novels The Member of the Wedding (1997). Paquin played a minor role in The Queen of Spain Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997. She portrayed teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also played the role of a teen girl named Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
