Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name of Winona Laura Hoowitz, who was born within Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Both her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder's father was born into the Jewish family. Ryder considers her self Jewish. Ryder is the younger sister of Uria who is half-sister to Jubal & Sunyata. In the year Ryder was just seven years old, her family relocated into Mendocino County California. They resided in an area without electric power. Ryder, who read a lot at the age of 12, became a bookworm since Ryder had no access to television. Ryder began taking acting lessons at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was 12. At the age of fifteen, she landed her very first role onscreen, playing Lucas. Ryder faced bullying during her high school years. Her hope was that her acting career would alter the way she dealt with bullying. Unfortunately, that did not take place. Still, she pursued her goal. In 1988, she received her biggest break with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder played successful roles for numerous films. In 1993 Ryder was twice nominated to win Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part In The Age of Innocence.
